AOL: the New AOL

AOL has officially changed its name to, well, AOL. No more America Online. Like Ask.com’s dumping of Jeeves, the move appears to fall in line with AOL’s continuing efforts to shed associations with its former self (something it should do to reflect a new content-centric model).

It’s also somewhat reminiscent of KFC getting rid of its former less heath conscious name, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and going with just the acronym — which would later be expanded in a marketing push to "Kitchen Fresh Chicken." We’ll see if AOL tries to do the same thing. "[;)]"
