Today R.H. Donnelley unveiled a new local feature called City Pages within its DexKnows.com Internet Yellow Pages site. The aim of these landing pages is to aggregate listings and consumer reviews for local businesses in key metros. A prominent feature of the pages is “Recent Reviews” (shown above), which show new consumer ratings posted across a wide array of business categories.

The pages also include local weather information, top area searches and a search box with a default setting to that location.

The content does have an auto-generated feel to it, but it effectively highlights local consumer reviews, which could help in making users more aware that such content exists on the site. The City Pages also make it easy to browse locally across a variety of high-use categories, and it includes a box highlighting seasonal categories. On the Chicago page, for example, the seasonal box focuses on weekend getaways (hotels, pet sitting, airport shuttle).

We think some efforts to make this feel a little more organic would pay off, with more truly local content — for example, local photos uploaded by users. All in all, this is a step forward in making the site more relevant to users, and in particular in highlighting the presence of consumer-generated content on DexKnows.com.
