Google’s MyLocation feature has been extended to additional devices running Windows Mobile (list of devices here).

The feature, launched last November, uses cell tower triangulation to indicate a mobile user’s location. This aids in local search and further lowers the barriers to searching for things locally on your phone. The extension to more Windows Mobile devices brings it to a significant chunk of the market.

With smartphone penetration rising, this represents yet another event in the collective move toward better mobile local search usability standards. Overall this shift is bringing the medium closer to the mainstream.
