We’ve known about Google Offers for some time — the deals product that Google started working on in the wake of its failed bid for Groupon. Today Google is announcing its launch in Portland, and forthcoming availability in NYC and San Francisco.
My colleagues who cover the deal space will have lots to say about this. For now I just wanted to point to the news and give a nod to the promo video (embedded below). Good animation and a sort of acoustic indie rock feel.
This follows a trend I’ve been watching: Google’s own advertising really improving in production quality over the past year or so. It was always ironic that a company built on advertising didn’t really advertise.
That’s clearly changed — the turning point probably being its Super Bowl ad last year.
