JiWire is out with its latest quarterly Insights report, uncovering user demand and adoption for location based services, mobile shopping, and deals.  For those unfamiliar, JiWire operates a location based ad network via public wi-fi and mobile.

Highlights include 79 percent of respondents reporting comfort with making purchases on mobile devices (including smartphones and tablets). 50 percent are comfortable spending more than $100 on these purchases and almost 20 percent are even comfortable spending more than $500.

In terms of where transactions took place, 71 percent researched future purchases on their mobile device and then made a purchase either online or within a store. Of those:

–31 percent researched a purchase on their device before buying it in-store at a later date
–40 percent researched a purchase on their device before buying it online at a later date, up 19 percent from Q4
–20 percent researched and made purchases from their device
–Travel, entertainment and retail are the top researched and purchased products and services
