BIA/Kelsey will be speaking at NAB Show New York Nov 9-10 on two panels to share data and insights on trends and revenue strategies for programmatic local TV and next generation TV, aka ATSC 3.0.

Let me know if you’re planning to attend and let’s meet-up. If you are going, be sure to use the registration code EP02 for a discounted Core Package deal.

Here’s a quick take on what we’re planning for these two sessions:

  • Programmatic and Local TV: Programmatic television buying and selling is set to be an evolutionary not revolutionary process in local TV.  Programmatic TV is defined in various ways but certainly comprises at least these three basic elements: Data infusion (audience targeting beyond age/gender), workflow automation and efficiency in finding and buying targeted audience segments from purchase to post. Programmatic’s journey into local TV will be driven by how the market responds to factors such as vendor diversity and integration, workflow across different platforms, cultural issues with adoption of new selling and buying technologies and practices, how and what local TV inventory gets exposed to programmatic platforms. For this session: Register for a discounted $25 Core Package by using Guest Pass Code “EP02”
  • Next Generation TV/ATSC 3.0: This panel is part of the separately ticketed (not part of the Core Package)  TVNewsCheck’s TV2020 conference on monetizing ATSC 3.0. With next generation TV, broadcasters have the ability to provide datacasting services and offer over-the-air “skinny bundles” to paying subscribers. Both have been attempted before by broadcasters with little success. But this time it will be different, because 3.0 can generate more robust signals that can be received far more reliably on fixed sets and smartphones. This panel takes a hard look at the potential market for such services and how well suited 3.0 is for providing them.
