A large and growing list of radio stations in the U.S. are serving a diverse and fast-growing portion of the Hispanic population. To deliver a resource for this important and vibrant segment in media, BIA is pleased to publish its inaugural Hispanic Radio Stations Directory.

Our hope is that this exclusive directory provides a data-driven view that is valuable for advertising agencies, policy makers, broadcasters, and other marketing and industry leaders interested in learning more about the Hispanic audio landscape.

The information in the directory is derived from a subset of data in BIA’s respected MEDIA Access Pro database, which offers detailed station, ownership, revenue forecasts and more for radio, television and newspapers.

Details on the Hispanic Radio Stations Directory and how to download it and a companion report can be found in the news release:

BIA Publishes Inaugural Hispanic Radio Station Directory

Nearly 2,000 U.S. Commercial and Non-Commercial AM And FM Radio Stations Are Programmed with Spanish Formatting.

CHANTILLY, Va. (June 14, 2023) – BIA Advisory Services has published its inaugural Hispanic Radio Station Directory, the first comprehensive guide to the large and growing list of radio stations in the U.S. serving the Hispanic population. The directory will be updated quarterly and will feature BIA’s proprietary analysis and insights into the Hispanic radio market. It is also designed to take feedback from leaders in Hispanic media so it can be a living resource to the industry.

“There are nearly 2,000 Spanish formatted commercial and non-commercial AM and FM radio stations, owned by more than 700 different entities,” said Nicole Ovadia, VP Forecasting & Analysis, BIA Advisory Services. “It’s a lifeline for some communities and a valuable market for advertisers trying to reach the population.”

Coinciding with the directory’s publication, Ovadia will be speaking June 15 on a panel at the annual Hispanic Radio Conference in Miami discussing how political and social issues are covered on Hispanic radio and how it can be monetized by stations in the coming political season.

“For 40 years, BIA has been the trusted resource and authority to the broadcast community. Given the importance of Hispanic radio to media owners, ad agencies and marketers, we developed this reference guide to reveal the depth and value of Spanish language and Spanish formatted stations in the broadcast industry,” said Tom Buono, BIA Founder and CEO.

With a projected population of over 66.5 million this year and a consumer buying power exceeding $2 trillion, Hispanic Americans will represent more than 20 percent of the total U.S. population and will become 22 percent of the nation’s population over the next 5 years, according to the Claritas 2022 Hispanic Market Report

The Hispanic Radio Station Directory includes key details for stations in the U.S., including call signs, station format (i.e., Tejano, Mariachi, Ranchera, Salsa, CCTV News, Educational), market name and rank, owners, and parent companies. The data is a subset of the full set of data BIA maintains in its comprehensive Media Access Pro™(MAPro) broadcasting and publishing industry database. The database delivers over two thousand fields of data on 30,000-plus organizations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Hispanic Radio Station Directory, along with a companion report, is available for free download from BIA’s website. Information and download links are found here.
