SMB Data Point of the Week: LinkedIn Edges Out Facebook Among Professional Services SMBs

Facebook reigns supreme as the most popular channel used for advertising and promotion by the vast majority of SMBs in BIA/Kelsey’s Local Commerce Monitor survey of small and medium businesses. But for SMBs in the Professional Services* vertical, LinkedIn is the more popular social media channel beating Facebook 47.3% to 43.7%. Most Professional services SMBs are B2B providers and see more value in Linkedin. Websites are still the #1 most used by Professional Services SMBs and email is also highly used.

As you can see in the chart below, the verticals that are more consumer-oriented, such as Entertainment, Retail and Technology, greatly preferred Facebook for advertising and promotion.
